MOVIES: The AFI Silver Theatre is playing Hot Blood Nicholas Ray’s seldom-seen tempestuous romance starring Jane Russell as a bombshell of a gypsy persuaded into an arranged marriage with a hesitant suitor played by Cornell Wilde. Our film critic Pat Padua wrote last week that despite the simple, tired plot, the chance to see a Ray film restored to its Technicolor grandeur should not be passed up.

At 9:35 p.m. at the AFI Silver Theatre, 8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring. $11.50. (301) 495-6700.

MUSIC: Yeah, Comet Ping Pong shows start late, but the resourceful promoter Sasha Lord always puts together a good show. Tonight, it’s lo-fi garage punk by Foul Swoops and Xray Eyballs, along with the dark Brooklyn-based experimenters Bezoar.

At 9 p.m. at Comet Ping Pong, 5037 Connecticut Avenue NW. $10. (202) 364-0404.

DRINKING AND POLITICS: For those not content to watch the Republican primary election results at home while yelling at—or along with—a cacophonous cabal of cable pundits, the Topaz Bar at the hotel of the same name is serving up newly mixed drinks for Super Tuesday. With 10 states holding primaries tomorrow across multiple time zones, Topaz Bar’s resident mixologist has concocted a beverage for each Republican candidate. Except for Ron Paul, who is represented by a $5 can of Pabst Blue Ribbon. The Newt Gin-grich (get it?) and Rick’s Tea Party (made with vodka) should get you pretty well schnockered in time for that fifth hour of continuous coverage. Save the Romney drink for later, it’s a non-alcoholic root beer float served as chilled as the former governor’s cold robot heart.

Starts at 5 p.m. at Topaz Bar, 1733 N Street NW. (202) 393-3000.

JUNGLE: National Zoo biologist Ed Smith shows off his findings from several trips to the Amazon region. Beginning the Andean headwaters and coursing to the great river’s mouth in the Atlantic Ocean, Smith will discuss “weird electric fish, mimetic frogs, elusive mammals, and other biological curiosities of the region.”

At the S. Dillon Ripley Center, 1100 Jefferson Drive SW. $30 for members, $40 general admission. ResidentAssociates.org. (202) 633-1000.

BASEBALL: Fresh off nabbing their first win of the Grapefruit League season over the sure-to-be-hapless New York Mets, the Nationals are going to Walt Disney World…to face the Atlanta Braves. If you’re thinking of going, you’d best quit reading and hurry to the game, which starts five minutes after this post goes live. It’ll also help if you’re in Florida.

At Champion Stadium, ESPN Wide World of Sports of Complex, 700 S. Victory Way, Lake Buena Vista, Fla. $15 to $51. (800) 745-3000.
