Newt Gingrich, according to one riveting Tumblr blog, is an excellent judge of people and objects. What, then, does he think about the annual pink-and-white foliage offered by Washington’s crop of cherry trees?

Presented without (much) comment, here are photos of Gingrich and his wife, Callista, taking a break from the Republican primary trail Sunday to stroll the Tidal Basin and take in the cherry blossoms. Look closely, and you might even see the the notoriously crankypants former House speaker wince out a smile.
