The latest lifestyle ranking bestowed on Washington seems so improbable, it’s almost worth blowing a gasket and punching a wall over. But calm down, because, it turns out, the D.C. area is one of the least stressed in the nation.

Yeah, we let out a stream of red-faced profanity when we saw it, too. But according to a survey by Sperling’s Best Place’s, the Washington region is 44th among 50 major metropolitan areas in terms of the stress we feel.

The metrics included divorce rates, average commute time, unemployment and violent and property crime rates. The divorce rate here is a low 8.6 percent and the commute time is just 36.5 minutes. Honestly, both numbers are a little hard to believe, what with Fairfax County resident Newt Gingrich’s marital history and the constant traffic jams and delays in Metrorail service we face every day.

But we’re gonna stay cool, even if the numbers seem unlikely. After all, it’s not Washingtonians lead the nation in crazy acts like drivers ramming other vehicles in fits of rage.

Oh, wait. We do.

The five most stressed cities were Tampa, Fla; Las Vegas; Miami; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Detroit. The most chill: Minneapolis.
