>> DJ Shadow released an album 15 years ago, Endtroducing…, that took the art of sampling to previously unseen heights and became a classic. The Davis, California native released a new album late last year and will be at The Fillmore. $30. 8 p.m.

>> Hip-hop super-group Slaughterhouse (consisting of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5’9″) will see their second album released in a few months. In the mean time, though, they’ll be at the 9:30 Club along with local luminaries Kev Brown and Sean Born. $25-$100. 7 p.m.
>> Grammy-nominated vocalist Melanie Fiona first caught people’s attention with “Give it to Me Right” a few years back and recently released her second full-length album, The MF Life. She’ll be performing at The Hamilton. $27.50. 7:30 p.m.
Thursday:
>> Singer Rahsaan Patterson is a frequent visitor to the area and will be back for a show at the Birchmere. $55. 7:30 p.m.
>> Georgia Anne Muldrow abstract soul has been pushing musical boundaries for several years and continues with the release of Seeds, an album that features her on vocals and equally left-of-center producer Madlib. Muldrow will be appearing at Liv with her frequent collaborative partner, Dudley Perkins. $15 in advance / $20 at the door. 8 p.m.
>> “Afrobeat For Ya Soul” is celebrating its 3rd anniversary at Bossa. $5. 10 p.m.
Friday:
>> British producer Aaron Jerome caught a lot of music critics off guard with his stage persona, SBTRKT (pronounced “subtract”). Besides wearing a mask during his sets, he brought a fresh take on the dubstep movement and wound up making his self-titled album one of 2011’s best releases. He’ll be at the 9:30 Club but the show is sold out. Craigslist could assist, though. 8 p.m.
>> There will be a birthday celebration for Ultra Naté at U Street Music Hall as part of Deep Sugar DC edition of “Red Fridays”. Joining her will be Chris Burns and Lisa Moody. Free before 11 p.m. / $5 after 11 p.m. 10 p.m.
