The City Paper rolled out its annual Best of D.C. issue today, in which the alt-weekly’s staff and readers play judge and jury on everything from best vegan cookie to local band and tons in between.
And for the third year running, City Paper readers seem to have decided that we’re a runner-up at best (2010) and more often than not a has-been (2011 and 2012) in the contest for Best Blog. This year, we couldn’t do any better than third, coming in after winner Prince of Petworth and second-place finisher 2birds1blog. Given that only first and second place changed this year as compared to the 2011 contest, it looks like City Paper readers just want to rub it in our face a little more that we’re at best worth a bronze medal. In blogging.
You know what? Fine. We did our own informal poll, and it looks like City Paper readers are third-best in D.C. I mean, who else would have chosen Potbelly’s as the second-best sandwich shop in D.C.? And Ledo as the best pizza in D.C.? And is the Best Waxing Center really the, umm, Best Waxing Center? For shame, people.
Just kidding. Go take a look at all of the City Paper’s rulings, and congrats to PoP and 2birds1blog for again proving they’re superior bloggers than we. (Thanks to those who voted for us, too, and we won’t let you down again!) Come 2013, we’re either going to win the contest or run our own in which all options point to, well, DCist. Except the waxing center one.
