The cops who pulled over the Lamborghini driver dressed as Batman last week shuffled between doing their duty and outright disbelief, as witnessed in video of the traffic stop released last night by the Montgomery County Police Department.
“You can send me Robin if you wish,” one of the officers says to police dispatch before walking over to the Lamborghini driven by Lenny B. Robinson, a Maryland businessman who cheers up sick kids by dressing up as Batman and visiting them in the hospital. Robinson was pulled over March 21 for driving without properly fastened license plates while en route to Georgetown University Hospital. Instead of state-issued tags, his car featured plates stamped with the Batman logo.
In the video, the officers ask Robinson the routine traffic-stop questions—license, registration, and so forth—but then some queries one expects are not part of the norm.
“How long does it take to put that outfit on?” Robinson says it takes “a while” to get in to the leather and neoprene getup.
Robinson shows the officers the proper license plates for the “Batmobile” and is eventually sent on his way, but not before the officers first take fan photos for posterity.
And once the Caped Crusader speeds off, the cops can’t contain their laughter anymore.
