When Moz talked about that “extra track and the tacky badge”, I bet those boys from Manchester didn’t get discounts on their favorite bars around town like we can.
Throughout April, 15 bars around D.C. are offering discounts for those who purchase a DC Beer Week button to show support for quality beer and the establishments that support our favorite brews. Buy purchasing a $10 button at any of the participating bars; you are entitled to the discounts that come with the button for the entire month of April.
So where can we buy these buttons and all the delicious savings that go along with the promotion? Here are the 15 participating bars and the details to get the festivities underway:
Bier Baron: $2 off all local beers
The Big Hunt: Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. – $1 off featured craft beers
Bourbon: Sunday through Wednesday – $8 One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer. You get a shot of your choice of a preselected Bourbon or Scotch and a pint from one of four local brewery draft selections for $8.
Capitol Lounge: $4 Anchor Liberty or Sierra Nevadas
Churchkey and Birch & Barley: Every Monday – Half-price on all five cask ales from the engines
District Chophouse & Brewery: Any beer is $2.50
Granville Moore’s: $5 Ommegang BPA’s

Smoke & Barrel: Sunday through Thursday – $1 off all drafts
Tryst: It’s Happy Hour anytime – a $3-$4 craft beer selection
Also be sure to cut out the DC Beer Week passport from in the March 30 issue of Washington City Paper. If you collect a stamp from all 15 bars on the cut-out, you’ll be entered into a drawing for some fabulous prizes. One grand prize winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to all 15 bars. [Author’s note: The site for this information just launched today, so the timing with the City Paper release last week is unfortunate.]
This deal pays for itself in just a few visits (or one if you’re really thirsty…not that anyone at DCist would advise that) and could be a great conversation starter aside from the usual “So where do you work?” D.C.-esque banter that plagues this city’s beverage dispensaries as a poorman’s breaking of the ice.
Grab a button. Try some new beers. And see this as training for DC Beer Week. Good luck and godspeed.
