Yesterday we were introduced to Mirlande Wilson, a Baltimore-area woman who claims she purchased for herself one of three winning tickets in last week’s stunning $656 million Mega Millions jackpot, but is also being accused of pulling a fast one on her coworkers with whom she split a group ticket.

Wilson had agreed to share a ticket with her fellow McDonald’s employees, but said earlier this week that her winning ticket was purchased separately. Her coworkers aren’t buying the story, and frankly, after the latest development, we can’t really blame them for their doubt.

NBC4’s Shomari Stone paid Wilson a visit yesterday and asked Wilson to show him the winning ticket. She refused, but repeated her story that she and her colleagues each put in $5 for a pool ticket, but that she later bought one for herself. Stone asks how she can be sure which ticket was in fact the winner; photocopies of the supposed group ticket do little to clear things up.

But also murky is that Maryland lottery officials report that the prize—about $218.6 million before taxes—is still unclaimed. It was definitely purchased at a 7-Eleven convenience store down the block from the McDonald’s where Wilson works, state lottery officials say, but the big check is just waiting to be picked up.
