Good morning, Washington. How ya doing?
Dolt Line State: Well done, Maryland legislators! Annapolis’ 90-day session adjourned last night and, as anticipated, the General Assembly failed to pass a budget. It’s a little odd, though, considering the leaders of both houses as well as Gov. Martin O’Malley are all Democrats. But look on the bright side, at least Maryland became the first state to ban the use of arsenic in chicken feed. That’s something, yeah?
Train (in Vain?): The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors is set to vote on whether to fund its share of the $2.7 billion Silver Line to Dulles International Airport, WAMU reports. Virginia last week pulled a $300 million contribution from its budget, and some Fairfax’s neighbors in Loudoun County are reconsidering their support. Remember: Less public funding means higher fares on the Dulles Toll Road.
Briefly Noted: More discipline in GSA spending spree … Dupont residents love their screen doors … Six-year-old in Clinton, Md. accidentally kills self with gun he found at home … Should Marion Barry go back to the Democratic National Convention?
This Day in DCist: In 2011, ha ha, remember when D.C. was supposed to become a safe haven of online gambling? In 2010, a MetroAccess Driver was arrested for sexual harassment.
