>> Capital Helmet-share? It’s not like it’s an idea whose time hasn’t come. The Post reports that the region’s popular bike-sharing program will start selling helmets online, hoping to encourage riders to protect their brains while they roll around town. The helmets are a steal at $16, are red and yellow and will only be available to new or renewing members.
>> On Tuesday D.C. will kick off its annual Potholepalooza, the month-long campaign where the D.C. Department of Transportation will fill potholes reported by residents in 48 hours rather than the usual 72 hours. According to WTOP, some 19,000 potholes have been filled in the past three campaigns.
>> Mayor Vince Gray is in the midst of selling his 2013 budget to D.C. residents through a series of town halls in each of the city’s eight wards. But how is he selling it to residents with very different interests and backgrounds? Very differently, of course. According to the Informer, in Ward 8 Gray touted the modernization of Ballou High School and capital investments in the St. Elizabeth’s campus, while in Ward 3 he spoke of the University of the District of Columbia and improving service requests.
