Seems like all the D.C. punks are getting up there. Last year, MacKaye’s longtime compatriot Henry Rollins hit the half-century mark, and kind of got all sentimental over the milestone, using it as fuel for a spoken-word and comedy tour.
Should we expect the same type of nostalgia from the 50-year-old MacKaye? Probably not, the City Paper says. After all, the Dischord founder isn’t really one to look back. Some of Fugazi’s best songs—”Argument,” “Long Distance Runner,” “Epic Problem”—are about a constant push forward.
And all the more reason not to look back: The Evens are recording new material, with a new LP coming some time in the near future.
