STORYTELLING: Story League’s sixth story contest, Unforgivable
/Unforgettable, offers up nine true stories of “the best/worst thing anyone’s ever done for/to you” tonight at Busboys and Poets (2021 14th Street NW). 9:00 p.m. $10.

VARIETY: It’s a celebration of local talent, including music, sideshow, juggling, interpretive yak milking, and more, at the DC Variety Open Mic night at the Red Palace (1212 H Street NE) this evening. 9:00 p.m. $8.

TALK: Learn more about D.C. Emancipation Day, which celebrated its 150th anniversary this past Monday, through a panel discussion at the National Archives (Constitution Avenue and 7th Street NW) tonight. The talk will be moderated by John Franklin, director of partnerships and international programs at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. 7:00 p.m. Free.

GALA: The “Shaw in Bloom” gala at Long View Gallery (1234 9th Street NW) this evening is a fundraiser to support Shaw Main Streets’ commercial revitalization efforts. Tonight’s event will feature a live auction hosted by drag queen Lena Lett, cocktails from The Passenger’s Derek Brown, live jazz, and more. 7:00-9:30 p.m. Tickets: $75.
