During a breakfast between Mayor Vince Gray and the D.C. Council today, there was plenty of talk of development at two sites: the St. Elizabeth’s campus in Southeast and the Walter Reed campus in Northwest.
Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Victor Hoskins hinted at what could come to both sites, reports WTOP:
For St. Elizabeth’s, D.C. is considering Siemens, GWU, Citelum, Landmark Theaters, Microsoft, FEMA and General Dynamics.
At Walter Reed, it is weighing a Whole Foods, Wegmans, Harris Teeter, Lowe’s, Costco, Safeway, Giant or Home Depot.
Look, we’ve been teased by Wegmans before, so we’ll believe it when we see it. As for a Costco, well, we’re already getting a first one this year, so would we need a second? Who really needs multiple big-box retailers, anyhow? Oh, right.
In related news, T.J.Maxx opened its 1,000th store today—in downtown D.C. Sadly for you, it’s a Massachusetts-based company, so unless you hate the Caps, you can’t shop there today.
