FOOD & DRINK: Taste of 8th, sponsored by Barracks Row Main Street, is back this Saturday showcasing the wide variety of eating options on 8th Street SE these days. Tickets are $5 for one tasting or $20 for five tastings and the event runs from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
MUSIC: SweetGreen’s annual music event, the Sweetlife Festival brings Avicii, Kid Cudi, The Shins, and many others to Merriweather Post Pavilion (10475 Little Patuxent Parkway Columbia, MD) this Saturday. Along with good music, there will also be a number of good eats, including José Andrés Pepe Truck, Gordy’s Pickle Jar, Toki Underground, Pleasant Pops, and more. Starts at 12 p.m. Tickets: $75.
SHOP: Capital City Craft Company is holding a Sip and Shop event at Larry’s Lounge (1836 18th Street NW) this Satudray, bringing together local crafty artists–SmokingHaute, Red & Main, and Kosmoceratops, to name a few–and access to cocktails. 12:00-6:00 p.m.
MARKET: Georgetown’s French Market is back this weekend, up and down Wisconsin Avenue between P Street and Reservoir Road. There will be sidewalk sales, live music, wine tasting, and more. Learn about the over 35 participating shops and other details here. 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
SCAVENGER HUNT: After the French Market Saturday, stay in Georgetown for a The Secrets of Georgetown Scavenger Hunt from Watson Adventures. Some sites included on the hunt are the birthplace of the computer, a former prison that Lincoln visited, the Old Stone House and its tranquil garden, “sunken” houses, and more. Starts on the west side of Wisconsin Avenue NW and M Street NW. 2:00-4:30 p.m. $22.50.
DODGEBALL: Express your politics through brute force at LivingSocial’s Republicans vs. Democrats dodgeball tournament at Yards Park (10 Water Street SE) this Saturday. For those not playing, grab a beer from co-hosts Flying Dog or DC Brau and pair it with some grub from one of the food trucks on hand (Mojo Truck and Tasty Kabob). 11:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m.$25 for participants, $10 for spectators.

SCIENCE: We geek out over science and space here at DCist, and we hope that future generations will feel the same. Round up the kids and take them to the USA Science and Engineering Festival at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Place NW) this Saturday (10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) and Sunday (10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) for “3,000 hands-on activities” and “nearly 150 live performances by science celebrities, explorers, best-selling authors, entrepreneurs and world-renowned experts.” Free.
ROLLER DERBY: Roll over to the Dulles Sports Plex (21610 Atlantic Blvd. Sterling, VA), an easier venue for NOVA derby fans, to see the DC Rollergirls All-Stars (ranked 11th in the East) face Westchester County NY’s Suburban Brawl (#12E). With both teams looking to clinch a spot at Eastern Regionals, this promises to be a hard-fought contest. The afternoon will kick off with the DC Capitol Offenders taking on NOVA Roller Derby. Please note, the event is BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair). Doors open at 3pm and the first bout starts at 4pm. $12 at the door, $6 kids aged 6-11, kids under 6 free.
FUNDRAISER: Brightest Young Things, Spike Mendelsohn, and EvolveDC team up for Class Is In Session, a fundraising event for Good Stuff Gardens. There will be food, drinks, and raffle prizes (including an 8 course dinner for 4 at Toki Underground). Plus, Bravo TV will be on hand filming for their new show Life After Top Chef. 6:30-11:00 p.m. Tickets: $100 (includes admission and 2 raffle tickets).
SUNDAY
SHOP: Trash Cat Collective sets up a pop-up shop at The Blind Dog Cafe (944 Florida Avenue NW), inviting attendees to bring up to 5 items to exchange, or just to show up and shop at their Spring Swap. While you look around, enjoy themed cocktails and snacks. 4:00-7:00 p.m.
TOUR: The National Cathedral is starting back up its Gargoyle Tours, which had been suspended for a time due to damage from the earthquake. Partcipate on Sundays at 2:00 p.m. or Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Reservations suggested, but not required. Tickets: $10 adults, $5 children 12 and younger, or $30 for a family.
