It’s often that Councilmember Marion Barry (D-Ward 8) says something that leaves most everyone wondering what his point was and why he was making it. Now you can make it your living trying to explain it to them.

Barry is looking for a communications director, a position in his office that has been empty for quite a while and will likely test even the most battle-hardened of flacks. (Just imagine fielding phone calls in the wake of Barry’s recent comments about Asian American business owners and Filipino nurses.)

The job description is pretty straight forward: writing press releases and newsletters, designing a communications plan, updating Barry’s website, etc. (Sadly, it looks like Barry’s infamous Twitter account is being left to the mayor-for-life himself.)

The requirements are that you have at least a bachelor’s degree in communications, media relations or journalism and that you live in D.C. (Unstated but understood—you really have to have a knack for seeing the silver-lining in even the worst of situations.) For your troubles, you could be paid between $46,350 and $75,000.

Awesomely enough, the hours you’d work are officially listed as the “Tour of Duty”—9 a.m. to 6 p.m., if you’re curious—which probably accurately reflects the daily battles you’d be fighting.

UPDATE, 3 p.m.: Barry wants you! No, seriously:
