French authorities are investigating claims that Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the International Monetary Fund, may have committed a rape during 2010 sex party at the W Hotel in Washington, according to The New York Times.

Strauss-Kahn, who was arrested last year for an sexual assault on a maid at New York hotel but later cleared of the charges, was charged in February by French police for his suspected participation in a prostitution ring based in the northern city of Lille. Strauss-Kahn and other businessmen, French investigators say, took prostitutes with them to sex parties in Paris, New York, Washington and other cities.

Strauss-Kahn resigned his position at the IMF shortly after his New York arrest. At the time, he was seen as the Socialist Party’s leading candidate for the French presidential race. (The Socialists’ candidate, François Holland, is expected to win a run-off vote this weekend over President Nicolas Sarkozy.)

And one party held in D.C. in December 2010 is the subject of new allegations raised by a pair of Belgian prostitutes. Prosecutors in Lille told the Times that Strauss-Kahn, who is often called DSK, may have raped one of the prostitutes at the W Hotel.

According to the French daily Libération, the prostitutes were each paid 2,500 euros for their trip to the W Hotel, which lasted from December 15 to 18. One of the prostitutes told police that she was subjected to “certain sexual acts without her consent,” Libération reported.

Strauss-Kahn has not yet been charged for rape.

Meanwhile, his house in Georgetown is still on the market for $4.7 million. The Federal-style townhouse features three bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms and an in-ground swimming pools, among other amenities.
