FRIDAY

MOVIE: Pasties and Popcorn, brought to you by DC Shorts and Tilted Torch, is a two night event of sexy short films from past DC Shorts festivals, burlesque acts, and sideshow performers at the Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H Street NE). The show goes on at 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Friday, and 7:00 p.m., 9:30 p.m., and midnight on Saturday. $20.

ART: The Hirshhorn’s SONG 1: A Happening event on Friday will feature live performances (live streamed by Pitchfork.tv) from 8:oo p.m. to midnight, access to the galleries, and an open bar. Tickets: $25.

FOOD & DRINK: Black Squirrel (2427 18th Street NW) is celebrating brinner by serving up dinner-sized breakfast platters (two eggs, bacon, homemade sausage, French toast, home fries and cappuccino stout sauce) and pairing them with Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout and Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout and naming the event “A Toast to Breakfast in the Evening.” The deliciousness begins at 5:00 p.m.

COMEDY: Actor and comedian Jon Lovitz performs at the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike Arlington VA) tonight and tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. and 9:55 p.m. $30.

SATURDAY

EMBASSIES: European embassies open their doors to visitors this Saturday for the “Shortcut to Europe” event. At the British Embassy (3100 Massachusetts Avenue NW), learn how to play cricket, sample some whisky, and write a note to the Her Majesty the Queen for her Diamond Jubilee. Or head to the Danish Embassy (3200 Whitehaven Street NW), which will be celebrating bike culture, since Copenhagen is the Bike Capital of the World. 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Free.

MUSIC:The M3 Rock Festival brings Ratt, Queensrÿche, Skid Row, Warrant, Quiet Riot, L.A. Guns, and others to Merriweather Post Pavilion (10475 Little Patuxent Parkway Columbia MD) Saturday. 11:00 a.m. $40-$60.

COMEDY: Female comedy duo “Saranuta,” comprised of Sara Armour and Laura Spadanuta, take the stage at the D.C. Arts Center (2438 18th Street NW) Saturday for an evening of sketch and standup comedy. 10 p.m. $10.

MOVIES: AFI Silver Cinema (8633 Colesville Road
Silver Spring MD) kicks off their Horses in Cinema this Saturday with a free screening of Misty, and the opportunity to meet the horses of the Maryland-National Capital Park Police. 11:00 a.m. Free.

ROLLER DERBY: Be there for the thrilling conclusion of DC Rollergirls’ sixth season. Scare Force One will take on the Cherry Blossom Bombshells for the title of champions, while the DC DemonCats will fight the Majority Whips one last time for the bronze medal. Doors open at 3 p.m. The action starts at 4 p.m. with the 3rd/4th place match-up followed by Championship bout. $12 at the door (or in advance), $6 kids aged 6-11, kids under 6 free. Before the bout, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., join the tailgating party in Lot 3 (corner of 19th and East Capitol Streets SE) next to the DC Armory. The Mojo Truck will be selling their sandwiches, and there’ll be games and music too.

SUNDAY

DANCE: Dance in the Circle was originially scheduled for April 21, but had to be postponed due to bad weather. So, head to Dupont Circle this Sunday around 3:00 p.m. tto learn some hip-hop, clogging, flamenco, and other dance moves from a number of dance troops at the Dance in the Circle event. Stay til 8:00 p.m. for a full-on dance party. 3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Free.

MUSIC: Rob Zombie and Megadeth rock your face off at Merriweather Post Pavilion Sunday. 3:00 p.m. $40-$55.

MUSEUM: The National Air and Space Museum is holding the opening ceremonies for The Arts, Military + Healing: Transforming War and Trauma Experience through the Arts this Sunday. 2:00-3:30 p.m.
