BuzzFeed, the hive of viral Web content that recently branched out into original political reporting, is opening a D.C. bureau later this summer. Ben Smith, the longtime Politico writer who jumped ship last December to become editor-in-chief of BuzzFeed, told FishbowlDC this morning that the company will be making some reporting and editing hires in the coming weeks. (BuzzFeed is based in New York, where Smith lives.)

Yet BuzzFeed, despite its emerging reputation as a source of breaking presidential campaign news, is probably still best known for articles such as “12 Amazing Notes Confiscated By A Middle School Teacher Over The Years,” “14 Ineffective Car Alarm Notes,” “20 People Who Think Oprah Is Whitney Houston” and “People Who Thought Space Shuttle Discovery Was the Challenger.” (Oh, wait. That last one was us.)

So, while we anticipate some good long-form reporting coming out of BuzzFeed’s new D.C. office, we’re also looking forward to stuff like “Nine Places to Drink With a Member of Congress,” “15 Senators Looking at Zoo Animals” and “33 Lolcats Who Are Worried About the Debt Ceiling.”

To that end, we’ve decided to welcome D.C.’s newest news bureau with what it’ll do best-a bunch of tweets. Here are 10 totally amazing* tweets about BuzzFeed’s new D.C. outpost.
