PHOTOGRAPHY & SOCIAL CHANGE: D.C. non-profit Critical Exposure has long used photography to help city youth identify and raise awareness for issues they face on a daily basis, whether crappy schools or lack of job opportunities. Tonight the organization is hosting its annual “SEE CHANGE: Youth – Cameras – Action!” photography exhibit at the Hill Center (921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE) from 6-9 p.m. (See some of the pictures here.) RSVP here, $35 donation is suggested.
READING: We loved Garrett Peck’s The Potomac River: A History and Guide, and he’ll be reading from it and signing copies tonight at One More Page Books in Arlington (2200 N. Westmoreland Street #101) at 7 p.m. Free.
VARIETY: It’s a Hootenanny! Sideshow and Foot Stompin’ Blues! hits the Red Palace (1212 H Street NE) tonight at 9:00 p.m. $10.
OUTDOOR MOVIES: We already previewed the apocalypse-heavy NoMa Summer Screen outdoor film series, and it kicks off tonight with The Day After Tomorrow. Food trucks will be on hand to feed you in preparation of end times. Loree Grand Field at Second and L Streets, NE. 7 p.m. Free.
MUSIC: Apparently the only people that remember much about Garbage have bought up all the tickets to tonight’s sold-out show at the 9:30 Club (Craig has a few willing sellers, though), so look to our Weekly Music Agenda and Hip-Hop listings for some alternatives.
