We reported earlier this week that Chuck Brown’s publicist had said that his funeral and memorial service will take place next week. The Post’s Mike DeBonis now has more details, including a full-day viewing on Tuesday, May 29 at the Howard Theatre and a funeral at a larger venue later in the week:

According to daughter Cherita Whiting, plans are in place for an all-day public viewing at the Howard Theatre next Tuesday, May 29. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, May 31. The venue has not been determined, but Whiting said it is likely to be held at either the Washington Convention Center or Verizon Center.

According to the City Paper, though, Brown’s publicist says that nothing has yet been finalized, so plans could change.

Mayor Vince Gray said last week that D.C. flags would fly at half-staff on the day of Brown’s funeral, and petitions have been started asking that the city proclaim “Chuck Brown Day” on August 22, his birthday.
