The National Gallery of Art’s Jazz in the Garden series launched its 12th season Friday night with the performance of blues group The Tom Principato Band. Park officials also continued to crack down on visitors bringing alcoholic beverages, a rule that was enforced last year. Out of the garden’s five entrances, only three were open. Each gate had authorities checking visitors’ bags.

Nevertheless, people still were having a good time. Olivia Wood of Visitors’ Services estimated 2,522 attended this beloved Friday happy-hour alternative. The concert series is held every Friday until August 31.
