Look, it’s a 4D map of D.C.!It’s not just those FBI t-shirts on the National Mall that we wouldn’t ever be caught dead purchasing, but also this Luminescent 4D Washington D.C. Skyline Puzzle being sold by Hammacher Schlemmer:
This is the only puzzle that recreates our nation’s capital using luminescent scale-model buildings and streets, providing a realistic night-time view of the city’s layout. Winner of the United Kingdom Gift of the Year Award, the puzzle spans more than 200 years of the city’s architectural history not only in three dimensions, but also along the axis of time. Only available from Hammacher Schlemmer, it includes 57 plastic buildings that depict Washington D.C. as it appeared as far back as 1792 when the White House was erected. Including icons such as the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, the buildings fit into pre-cut holes in a traditional 1076-piece 2D jigsaw puzzle. Includes a poster that includes a timeline of the city.
It was originally priced at $49.95, but recently knocked down a full $20. That must have been enough for some people, because Hammacher Schlemmer says it’s fresh out of of the 4D puzzle map. (New York, Chicago and Las Vegas are also available.) The 3D Washington D.C. Landmark Set is still available, though, and it’s also on sale! So yeah, have fun with that.
