>> D.C. Council Chair Kwame Brown’s financial problems aren’t over. Well, to be specific, his wife’s financial problems aren’t over. The City Paper reports that American Express sued Brown’s wife for not paying $15,000 in credit card debt. While that alone wouldn’t necessarily be much of a story, in 2010 Brown himself was sued by three credit card companies for over $50,000 in unpaid debt. In a statement, Brown slammed the City Paper for reporting on what he called “private matters.”
>> Despite ongoing opposition by Susan Eisenhower, members of the Eisenhower Memorial Commission are pushing forward and want the Frank Gehry design approved before June 6, writes the Examiner. Earlier this week Susan Eisenhower, granddaughter of the 34th president, expressed her continued opposition to 80-foot-tall metal tapestries that will frame the memorial and asked for a delay in planning until a compromise could be reached.
>> A conservative group is calling residents in Loudoun County and asking them to pressure their elected officials to reject the Silver Line’s second phase, which would pass through Dulles airport on its way out to the county. According to the Post, Americans for Prosperity call the project—slated to cost some $3 billion—a “bail-out to rail-station developers.” (Earlier this month a study found that Loudoun County could lose billions if it rejects the Silver Line.)
