Last weekend marked the 10th anniversary of the debut of the finest urban chronicle to ever grace American television. Yes, it’s been a decade since we were first introduced to the likes of Omar Little, Bubbles, Kima Greggs, Jimmy McNulty, D’Angelo Barksdale and the rest of David Simon’s fictionalized Baltimore.

So, perhaps in celebration of The Wire‘s decennial anniversary, or maybe in spite of it, the geniuses at Funny or Die have reunited some of the cast in a trailer for what would be an dinner-theater re-enactment of the show’s five-series run. Returning Wire cast members include Michael Kenneth Williams as Omar, Andre Royo as Bubbles, Sonja Sohn as Kima Greggs, Larry Gillard Jr. as D’Angelo Barksdale and Felicia “Snoop” Pearson as the fictional version of herself. (What? No Carcetti? Oh, right, he’s busy in King’s Landing these days.)

New to the cast are some chorus-line cops, a singing heroin syringe and a soulful burner. The Funny or Die clip also recreates a few choice scenes from The Wire, such as D’Angelo’s chess lesson and Omar’s courtroom appearance. Omar’s restaged death, however, veers far off the original portrayal. Oh, and Faizon Love replacing Idris Elba as Stringer Bell is some inspired casting.

Would anyone want a musical version of The Wire? Probably not. But at least they left out those awful newsroom scenes from Season Five.
