Yesterday, Grizzly Bear let their new album details slip in a surprise announcement that blew up the Internet. Grizzly Bear haven’t put out a record since 2009’s Veckatimest, and haven’t toured regularly since 2010. After a well-deserved break, the band started recording their fourth and still untitled new album sometime in late 2011. Now we have the first new music from the band and the first track from their album dropping September 17, “Sleeping Ute.” Barreling through the gates, “Sleeping Ute” is a noisy ride that calms in the track’s last section but is a powerhouse nonetheless. Along with announcing the album’s release and track list, Grizzly Bear announced a lengthy tour with not one but two stops here at the 9:30 Club on 20 and 21. Tickets go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m. so get your pointer fingers ready. I suspect these will go fast.
