There are a lot of great shows in D.C. tonight, and I’ve already touched on a couple of them, but one that might have slipped under the radar is The Cribs‘ show at Black Cat. The English band of brothers have been around since 2000 and at one time counted Johnny Marr as a full time member. Since Marr’s departure, The Cribs released a new record recorded half with Steve Albini and half with veteran producer extraordinaire Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev). Today’s song of the day is not a cut from their new record but their biggest hit “Men’s Needs” off their still incredibly catchy 2007 record Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever. While the beat rides the dance-punk wave just remember The Cribs are smart indie rockers that imitate while making fun of tired genres.

The Cribs play tonight at Black Cat with Devin. Tickets $15.
