He’s still unproven in professional football, but the myth of Robert Griffin III keeps growing. The “Washington” Redskins’ rookie quarterback had quite the weekend, running around D.C. while shooting a commercial and receiving the admiration of one of his better teammates.
On Saturday, Griffin popped up near the White House and again in Shaw while filming a commercial for Adidas, with which he has a major endorsement deal. In the spot, D.C. Sports Bog reported, Griffin appears dressed as a police officer. The only other detail known about the commercial is that the scene filmed at 16th and K Streets NW features the use of a rain machine. Still, it’ll be interesting to see why Griffin was dressed as a cop.
Meanwhile, in RGIII news more closely resembling actual football analysis, the quarterback was showered in compliments by Redskins cornerback Deangelo Hall, who said in an interview with 980-AM ESPN that the untested Griffin is “light years ahead” of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick:
Mike felt like he could go out athletically and be great. RGIII is like I know athletically I’m pretty good, but I want to be mentally great. If I can be mentally great and athletically good or great then it is scary. His ability to want to be that great quarterback now and just a great athlete is what is going to separate him from all the other guys out there.
That’s not exactly a faint comparison coming from Hall, who is a friend of Vick’s and a fellow product of Virginia Tech. Of course, just two years ago, when Vick was enjoying his resurgence with the Eagles, Hall was championing him, saying Vick “might be better than ever.”
But in Hall’s estimation, it seems Griffin is already that good. And dressing up like a police officer in commercials, to boot.
