British singer-songwriter Laura Marling got her start as an original member of Noah and the Whale. The 22-year-old made the transition to being a solo artist and was featured on tracks by The Rakes and The Mystery Jets (who will be in D.C. Thursday June 14th at U Street Music Hall). Marling has released three records, and will be headlining 9:30 Club tonight. Today’s song of the day, “Sophia,” is a cut off Marling’s third album A Creature I Don’t Know. The track starts with Marling’s smoky voice atop her acoustic guitar before turning into a gorgeous track with lush background vocals.
