Via FBIThe FBI announced today it is offering up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in the 2009 murder of a Virginia Tech student.
Morgan Harrington went missing in October 2009 after leaving a Metallica concert at the University of Virginia. Her body was found several months later in a field about 10 miles away from campus, according to the FBI.
The suspect, who has not been named, is also wanted in connection with a 2005 sexual assault case in Fairfax, the FBI said in a press release. DNA samples taken from Harrington’s body matched those taken in connection with the 2005 incident.
Fairfax Police and Virginia State Police are also leading the search for the suspect, who is a black male between 25 and 35 years old, approximately six feet tall and weighing between 180 and 220 pounds. The FBI released an updated sketch of the suspect.
Among those lending their support to the effort to find Harrington’s killer is Metallica frontman James Hetfield, who appears in a video on a website dedicated to the case.
