>> George Allen is back! The former U.S. senator won yesterday’s primary in Virginia for the the chance to take on former governor Tim Kaine for the seat being vacated by Sen. Jim Webb, writes the Post. Allen defeated three challengers, including Prince William Del. Robert Marshall, the legislator behind a bill that would grant fetuses personhood and the leading voice against a gay prosecutor for a judgeship.
>> Proponents of a new casino at the National Harbor are happy to hear that a new study has found that adding bringing gambling to the site just south of Washington could bring in some $460 million a year, reports the Examiner. With six casinos running in the state—there are currently five—Maryland could rake in $1.6 billion a year, money that both state and local legislators say is badly needed.
>> D.C. CFO Natwar Gandhi, whose five-year term is up soon, is fighting to be reappointed to the post of the city’s top bean-counter, reports the Times. Gandhi sent D.C. Chamber of Commerce leaders an email he sent in response to a weekend column by Post columnist Colby King in which King criticizes Gandhi’s oversight of the city’s finances.
