Mourners held a vigil yesterday outside an H Street Northeast deli for Hae Soon Lim, the 64-year-old Rockville resident who was shot and found dead inside her deli Thursday morning. “They remembered a woman who ‘knew your voice when you called on the phone,’ who gave you a smile, and described her as ‘a loving lady.'” [WJLA]
Virginia’s Republican Party voted to switch from a primary to a closed convention to pick a gubernatorial candidate. “Supporters of the convention argued that Republicans nominated in conventions fare better in fall elections. Conventions also prevent outsiders from meddling in Republican nominations in a state where primaries are open to all voters, and they don’t saddle taxpayers with election costs.” [AP]
Truck spills milk in Dickerson, Md. “A tanker truck with the capacity to carry 5,000 gallons of milk ended up on its side. The truck also carried about 200 gallons of diesel fuel. Both the milk and the diesel fuel leaked from the vehicle, officials said.” [WUSA]
The Georgetown Hoyas and the Florida Gators have been chosen to participate in this year’s Carrier Classic on Veterans Day. “The Florida-Georgetown matchup is the third game scheduled to be played on a naval ship Nov. 9, college basketball’s opening day…It is not clear if the Florida-Georgetown or Marquette-Ohio State games will be played on active ships.
