DC taxis will stop adding the one dollar gas surcharge to the fare. “It will officially expire at midnight on Wednesday. The fee went into effect in March of last year as gas prices started to skyrocket. But now that prices at the pump are starting to drop, the extra fee is being nixed.” [NBC4]

Four people were arrested in connection to several thefts from vehicles in the area. “On Thursday morning, Montgomery police said, officers in the area of the Bethesda thefts stopped a suspicious vehicle. Police said the vehicle held items thought to have been stolen. Four people, none older than 20, were arrested, and charged with possessing burglar tools with the intent to enter a car, police said.” [The Post]

A rare blue lobster, caught in the waters near Ocean City, Md., will be donated to National Aquarium’s Washington location. “Toby is blue because of agenetic variation that shows up in about one in every 2 million born that causes the lobster to produce an excessive amount of a particular protein that gives it that pigmentation, according to the University of Maine Lobster Institute.” [Delmarvanow]
