“It is certain I am loved of all ladies, only you excepted; and I would I could find in my heart that I had not a hard heart, for truly I love none,” says Benedick Mountanto in Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.

Oh, really?

To find out if Mr. Modest is as unyielding in the heart as he seems or you just happen to adore this play, check out the Bard’s romantic comedy outdoor performance this Sunday, 5 p.m., at American University’s Woods-Brown Amphitheater, 4400 Massachusetts Avenue NW.

WAMU and radio drama company Lean & Hungry Theater will perform the play in front of a live audience and broadcast live on WAMU 88.5 from 6 to 7 p.m. Set in the 1940s when soldiers were returning to New York City after the end of the war, this contemporary interpretation of the play will have live sound effects and original music.

The amphitheater has lawn seating so be sure to bring a blanket and a small picnic.
