FESTIVAL: The 2012 Smithsonian Folklife Festival kicks off on the mall today and continues through July 8 with dance, music, and educational exhibits (check out the full schedule). The main event tonight is the “Bring Back the Funk” concert, featuring headliner George Clinton with Ivan Neville and Dumpstaphunk, and Meshell Ndegeocello from 6:00-9:30 p.m. Free. The other parts of the festival open at 11:00 a.m.

OUTDOOR MOVIES: You have two outdoor movie options to choose from tonight: NoMa Summer Screen (Loree Grand Field at Second and L streets NE) continues its series of end-of-the-world movies with Ghostbusters at 7:00 p.m., and the U Street Movie Series (Harrison Field, V Street NW between 13th and 14th Streets) kicks off with its first screening of the summer, DC Cab, at dusk. Both movies are free.

MUSIC: Norah Jones brings her soulful voice to Wolf Trap (1645 Trap Road, Vienna, VA) this evening, with special guest Sasha Dobson. 8:00 p.m. $30 lawn, $50 in-house.

FOOD & DRINK: Art & Soul (415 New Jersey Avenue NW) invites you to join them for a crab boil on their patio beginning at 5:30 p.m. tonight and every Wednesday this summer. Crabs are three for $21, six for $40, or twelve for $72. Sides are $3 each and beer is $4 a glass or $16 a pitcher. Call (202) 393-7777 for reservations, but walk-ins are welcome as well.
