D.C.’s finest indie-folk band, America Hearts play their final Singles Club show tonight at Black Cat. The quartet, led by Jess Matthews is known, for succinct melodies and taking simple subjects and revealing their universal appeal. For each of the previous two Singles Club shows the band has been giving away three-track EPs of new songs and tonight is no different. Tonight’s single is Country and today’s song of the day is the lead track from the single, “Train Tracks.” Taking the EP’s name with the song’s style, the country ballad has smart lyrics about love (“you’ll love me like the way the train loves the tracks”) with a fantastic whistle breakdown.

The America Hearts Singles Club finishes tonight at the Black Cat with America Hearts, Olivia and the Mates, and The Mean Season with The We Fought the Big One DJs. $8, 8 p.m.
