It’s been a few weeks since Chuck Brown passed away, but the Godfather of Go-Go will again be remembered this weekend as the Smithsonian’s Folklife Festival pays tribute to him, reports WJLA:
Organizers are designating Saturday as “Chuck Brown Tribute Day” at the festival’s program celebrating the arts and culture of black neighborhoods in Washington.
The tributes will run from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The tributes will include musical performances, an hour-long fitness workout to the sounds of go-go, and storytelling on the history of go-go and Brown’s music career.
At least three bands will perform, including Cold Hearted Band, No Question Band and Junkyard Band.
The festival is being held on the National Mall.
