SmartPlanet writes that the Economist Intelligence Unit has ranked D.C. as the 14th best city in the world to live in, coming in behind the likes of Hong Kong, Amsterdam and Paris and ahead of all other U.S. competitors. Chicago came in at 15th, followed by New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Other cities in the top 10 included Osaka, Sydney, Stockholm, Berlin, Toronto, Munich, and Tokyo. At the bottom of the list were Tehran, Nairobi, Lusaka, Phnom Penh, Karachi, Dakar, Abidjan, Dhaka, Lagos, and Harare.
The rankings were based on a liveability index combined with spatial characteristics including sprawl, green space, natural assets, cultural assets, connectivity, isolation, and pollution.
