WTOP reports that the troubled utility says ongoing power restoration efforts coupled with the high heat are stressing the local electrical grid, and is asking that customers not run every appliance in their house at the same time this weekend.

>> Prince George’s County new gun offender registry will be public, writes the Examiner. When the registry goes into effect, convicted gun offenders will have to put their names and addresses on it, and that information will be available to anyone who wants to see it. Police have said that the information won’t initially be placed online, though.

>> As D.C. continues to grow, city planners are becoming concerned with how to deal with what will soon be more competition for valuable on-street parking spots, reports the Post. The D.C. Council is considering legislation that would deny tenants of some new developments the right to get residential parking permits, and also debating whether to make the permits more expensive generally and redraw the city’s parking zones. Some residents and driving advocates worry that parking will become prohibitively expensive in the future, while urbanists say that the cost of using it should better reflect the cost of providing it.
