Brooklyn’s Friends are back in D.C. tonight at the Rock and Roll Hotel bringing their brand of NYC dance-punk that’s sure to get the place moving. The five-piece garnered instant blog attention after show-stealing sets at CMJ and the release of two shit-hot singles. The band was swept up by Fat Possum and now dominate small clubs with angelic harmonies and ESG rhythms. Today’s song of the day, “Home,” is a funky number from their recently released debut record Manifest!. The cowbell heavy track has a booty-shaking shuffle and is an instant earworm. Singer Samantha Urbani and back-up vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Lesley Hann’s vocals blend perfectly as the rest of the band keep the party going. Catch them tonight, as they are sure to be playing bigger clubs their next time through the city.
Friends play tonight with Splash! and Red Line Graffiti at Rock and Roll Hotel. Tickets are $10.
