>> As one of Prince’s associated acts, Morris Day & The Time enjoyed a good deal of notoriety in the 1980s with tunes like “Ice Cream Castles” and “Jungle Love.” The Minneapolis funksters will be at the Howard Theatre for a rescheduled show date. $42.50 in advance / $46 at the door. 8 p.m.

Friday:
>> La Coka Nostra is only on their second album but have been in the game for years in other groups or as individuals. Consisting of Ill Bill (Non-Phixion), Danny Boy (House of Pain) and Slaine, the crew will make a stop at the 9:30 Club with Jedi Mind Tricks in support of their forthcoming effort, Masters of the Dark Arts. $25. 10 p.m.

Saturday:
>> Marking its seventh anniversary, the “DC Loves Dilla” show/fundraiser will be taking place at the Fillmore and will also serve as the close for the 11th Annual Hip-Hop Theater Festival. Artists slated to take part in this year’s tribute to the late, great hip-hop producer J Dilla include Slum Village, Guilty Simpson, Wes Felton and a host of others. $27. 9 p.m.

Sunday:
>> As one-half of Company Flow, El-P played an important role in the underground hip-hop scene during the mid- to late-1990s. After launching his Def Jux imprint, he continued his support of avant-garde hip-hop by forwarding his own solo career as well as others. He’ll be at the Rock and Roll Hotel with former Outkast affiliate Killer Mike, Mr. Motherfucking Exquire and Despot. $25. 8 p.m.

Monday:
>> Singer Leela James is known for her powerful vocals and but for this show at the Birchmere, she’ll be using them for music other than her own. James will pay homage in song to the legendary Etta James (no relation). $25. 7:30 p.m.
