I have lived in this area most of my life, and I have to say D.C. can be quite drab in the summer. The weather gets humid and sticky, and there is always the threat of rain. Also the hustle of traffic never stops, so it isn’t quite somewhere I would consider relaxing. California, however, always seems magical. Sure there are wildfires and L.A. has air that is almost impossible to breathe but it seems like a great place to live, especially if the songs are true. California supporters, Best Coast return to D.C. for a sold out show tomorrow at 9:30 Club and on their latest record they have a theme song about California, “The Only Place.” Today’s song is a little dose of blue skies and sunshine on this overcast day. While it does rhyme “waves” and “babes,” it asks the question “why would you live anywhere else?”

Best Coast play Saturday, July 14 with Those Darlins at 9:30 Club. Tickets are sold out. Best of luck on Craigslist.
