>> Former Labelle member Nona Hendryx built a solo career in the 1980s that included tunes like “Why Should I Cry.” She’ll be performing at the U Street Music Hall. $25. 7 p.m.

>> Taking cues from hip-hop and synthesizer soul from the 1980s for songs like “Sitting Back,” French producer Onra has made a name for himself in the electronic music world. His tour stops off at U Street Music Hall where he’ll be joined by Party Supplies and Pursuit Grooves. Friday:
>> Shanice Wilson made a major impact in the early 1990s with her hit single, “I Love Your Smile” and a duet with D.C. native Johnny Gill, “Silent Prayer.” The R&B vocalist will be at Blues Alley performing two shows on both Friday and Saturday. $35. 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

>> Electronic artist Matthew Dear returns to U Street Music Hall for a DJ set during the latest edition of “Red Fridays.” He’ll be joined by Outputmessage and Funkdamentalist. $10. 10 p.m.

Saturday:
>> “One Love” and “Freaks Come Out At Night” put old school hip-hop stalwarts Whodini on the map. They’ll be headlining a show at the Howard Theatre that will also include go-go legends E.U., a.k.a. the Experience Unlimited band. $20 in advance / $25 at the door. 8 p.m.

>> DJ 2-Tone Jones will be at Boundary Stone spinning tunes from the catalog of Stax Records. Free. 10 p.m.

Monday:
>> Even before New Orleans native and OFWGKTA affiliate Frank Ocean made his revelatory declaration two weeks ago, the show at the 9:30 Club in support of his debut album, Channel Orange, was sold out. Not to fear, though. Craigslist might be able to supply some options. 7 p.m.
