Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.)Last month, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) sank the District’s latest play for budget autonomy when he attached a series of obnoxious amendments to a bill that, if passed, would have enabled D.C. to control its own pursestrings. And we resolved that if we had the chance, we would tell Paul to buzz off for his proposals that would have made permanent a ban on using local funds for reproductive health services, prohibited employers from making hiring decisions on the basis of union membership and allowed residents to carry concealed weapons.
But it looks like a common house fly—er, Senate fly?—beat us to it. As he was rambling on in some floor speech today, Paul was pestered for over a minute by a pesky fly that kept buzzing in his face and weaving around his bushy hair. Multiple attempts to swat the bug were unsuccessful.
Good on you, little fly.
