SPIV: Ian Svenonius, the Sassiest Boy in America, and his band Chain and the Gang headline a four-act lineup at St. Stephen’s Church (1525 Newton Street NW). The show also features Shitstains, the Cornel West Theory, Heavy Breathing and DJ interludes by Hugh McElroy. All proceeds go to the Housing for All Campaign. EMO NIGHT: It’s going to be a rainy day, so why not relive your emo years by heading to the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW) for The Promise Ring? Title Tracks to open. If you need to get pumped up, listen to yesterday’s Song of the Day. 8 p.m. $25.

SATURDAY

GAME SHOW: Brandon Wetherbee, the host of the talk show and podcast You, Me, Them, Everybody, is hosting “This Is a Game Show” at Artisphere (1101 Wilson Boulevard, Rosslyn). Contestants include standup comedians Adam Friedland and Jenn Tisdale; libertarian Congressional candidate Bruce Majors, who is challenging Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.); and local art weirdo Andrew Bucket. Audience members and contestants alike can win prizes from eateries like Blind Dog Cafe, Wonderland Ballroom, Looking Glass Lounge and Sushi by Kaz, along with inedible rewards from Itty Bitty Press and Worn Magazine. At 8 p.m. Tickets $10.

PICNIC & MOON BOUNCE: The historic Union Market (1309 5th Street NE) near Gallaudet University is being restored and turned into an upscale culinary destination. While it won’t officially open until September, get a sneak peak today at Summer Picnic Spectacular, featuring a number of local celebrity chefs, food trucks galore, plenty of booze, and an 85-foot-long moon bounce. 12-6 p.m. Advance tickets are $5 and can be bought here, day-of tickets are $7.

AFRICA FESTIVAL: The Third Annual D.C. Africa Festival takes place today at the Banneker Community Center (2500 Georgia Avenue NW), where you can enjoy African-inspired entertainment, cuisine, arts & crafts, and a fashion show. 12-6 p.m. Free.

KNITTING: If you were inspired by yesterday’s yarn-bombing of the Albert Einstein memorial, Think Outside the Store (*16 Thayer Avenue, Silver Spring), downtown Silver Spring’s wearable art studio, is kicking off its knitting and crocheting program with a Summer Yarn Swap today. 12-3 p.m. $5.

FOOD & DRINK: Scoutmob and Eat Local First are sponsoring a local foods block party on Saturday, July 21. From 1-7 p.m., 14th and V Street NW will be transformed into a Farm-to-Street party with local food, beer, wine, live music, and cooking classes. Tickets are $15 for the block party, or $25 gets you entrance to both the block party and an after-party at Local 16 with complimentary drinks and pizza. Buy your tickets here.

BOLIVIAN DANCE: If you’ve ever been to one of D.C.’s July 4 parades, you’ll have seen the colorful troupes of Bolivian dancers. Tonight, scores of dancers and musicians will bring the exciting folk traditions of Bolivia to Arlington’s Lubber Run Amphitheater (North Columbus Street and Second Street, Arlington). 8 p.m. Free.

SUNDAY

FOOD & DRINK: Jackson 20 (480 King Street, Alexandria) Chef Brian McPherson will prepare a family style crab boil in the restaurant’s courtyard, complete with Maryland blue crabs, stuffed and shucked Chesapeake Bay oysters, fried clams with tartar sauce, cole slaw, summer corn, and boiled red potatoes. A selection of craft canned beers will be available for $5 each (Porkslap Pale Ale, Mama’s Little Yellow Pils, Watermelon Wheat, DC Brau Pale Ale), and working man’s canned beers will be available for $2 each, (PBR, Yuengling, and Miller High Life). Sixteen ounce drafts of “The Love” from Starr Hill Brewery and “Summertime” Kolsch from Goose Island will be available for $6. 6-8 p.m. $45 all-inclusive, tickets here.
