Movie begins at sunset – The Host (2006 – Rated R)
$15 (includes one complimentary drink, TM Members receive an additional ticket).
Tickets available at the door or online.
Summer is blockbuster season—and who doesn’t love a good monster movie? In keeping with the theme of the current exhibition Dragons, Nagas, and Creatures of the Deep, The Textile Museum is screening The Host. This contemporary Korean film begins with a chemical dump in the Han River, which grows a hideous water monster that terrorizes Seoul. It is up to a humble snack-shop family to save their daughter and the city—but how will they do it? Chills, comic-relief, and sleek special effects make this a monster flick that can be enjoyed by all.
Come before sunset to enjoy drinks, music, and the chance to “meet” the good-willed dragons on view in the galleries. Bring your own snacks, or purchase steamed buns by farmers-market favorite, People’s Bao. Visitors to this PM @ The TM will also be able to view and interact with a panel of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, on view for just one week (July 21-27).
