>> Just in case you’re curious what it costs to protect Mayor Vince Gray, the Examiner did some digging and found out: in his first year of office, 12 police officers on his security detail cost roughly $1 million. Gray’s security details is cheaper than that of his two predecessors, though, being smaller than Anthony Williams’ and not traveling with him the way Adrian Fenty’s did.

>> Mike Boone, the Trusty’s bartender who was stabbed while trying to protect a patron who was being robbed, has returned to work, WTOP reports. And though he has received donations to help cover the costs of the medical care he received after being stabbed seven times, Boone, who is uninsured, still owes over $55,000. A second fundraiser is being held tonight at the Capitol Lounge.

>> The man accused of killing Georgetown socialite Viola Drath may not go on trial until next year, reports the Post. Doctors at St. Elizabeths Hospital say that Albrecht Muth is improving, but needs more observation and treatment before he can stand trial. While prosecutors claim he’s fine to stand trial now, the continued treatment and scheduling may push his trial back until March 2013.
