Businesses in the city’s MidCity commercial district, located in the 14th and U Street corridors, will be coming together to celebrate its annual Dog Days Sidewalk Festival, August 4 – 5.

According to the website, the event has grown since it was founded in 2000. Back then, only six retailers participated. Now, over 70 businesses are taking part in this summer gathering.

Dog Days Sidewalk Sale: This tradition continues to anchor the festival with most of the MidCity Retailers hitting the sidewalks and offering special promotions on their merchandise. Shop your favorite MidCity furniture, apparel and vintage retailers this weekend and you may just score the deal of the year!

The Best in Dog Show: Saturday August 4th from 9:00am-11:00am at the African-American Civil War Memorial (Plaza at U st and Vermont Ave NW) – Dog Days will be showcasing the best of the District’s four-legged stars. See what great prizes you could win in this fun competition with categories like: Best Vocalist, Best Puppy, Best Tricks, Best Costume, Best Look-a-Like, and more! Sponsored by Planet Pet, Bank of Georgetown, and the African-American Civil War Memorial. May the best pooch win!

Zumbathon Demo: Saturday, August 4th from 11:00am-12:30pm – In the spirit of Martha and the Vandella’s, take part in “Dancin in the Street” with VIDA’s ZUMBA instructors. Taking place at 15th and P. More information to follow.

Listen Local First Street Music Showcase: Listen Local First will organize pop up street music performances throughout the MidCity Corridor including the Mobile Music Venue—creating alternate exposure opportunities for talented local musicians.
