After a two-year renovation, the Mt. Pleasant Public Library is ready to operate. D.C Public Library announced the space will open on Wednesday, September 12, with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Vincent C. Gray. at 11 a.m.
According to DCPL, the refurbished location will “feature multiple spaces for library programs and community meetings, expanded areas for children, teens and adults, and space for 80,000 books.”
The grand opening party will take place on Saturday, September 15.
The interim library, 3162 Mount Pleasant St., NW, will cease to operate on August 18 at 5:30 p.m. in preparation for the opening. During that period, holds placed with Mt. Pleasant will be routed to the Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Library, 1630 7th Street, NW.
