SURF ROCK: Dick Dale, probably best known in recent decades for the use of his blazing “Miserlou” in the opening credits of Pulp Fiction, plays all the hits tonight at Birchmere (3701 Mount Vernon Ave, Alexandria). 7:30 p.m. Tickets $29.95 before obnoxious Ticketmaster fees.
FUNNY PEOPLE?: Brandon Wetherbee, host of the talk show and podcast You, Me, Them, Everybody, hosts his “Quick and the Damned” open mic show tonight at Solly’s Tavern (1942 11th Street NW). No guarantee if the hopeful stand-up comedians will be funny, but hey, it’s at a bar, so keep drinking until you laugh. Free, but tip your bartender.
BASEBALL: Should be a great pitching showdown tonight at Nationals Park (1500 South Capitol Street SE), when Stephen Strasburg takes the mound for the best team in Major League Baseball against Cliff Lee, who gets the start for the National League East bottom-feeding Philadelphia Phillies. Game starts 7:05 p.m. Tickets from $12.
DANCE: The acclaimed choreographer and dancer Bill T. Jones is finally performing at a D.C.-area venue other than the Kennedy Center tonight, when the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company takes the stage at Wolf Trap (1551 Trap Road, Vienna). In Jones’ newest show, “Story/Time,” he is seated at a desk recounting personal stories while his dance company moves around him. 8:30 p.m. Tickets $4 lawn, $40 in-house.
