OUTDOOR FILM: Head of State will be showing at the Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival at Gateway Park (1300 Lee Highway, Arlington).

GET SOME DERECHO BEER: As we told you a few weeks ago, Alexandria’s Port City Brewing Company decided to name a beer after the June 29 derecho storm that almost spoiled 13,000 gallons of the brewery’s beer when the power went out. The Derecho Common beer will be available for tasting or growlers today at the brewery (3950 Wheeler Avenue, Alexandria) from 3 to 9 p.m.

LUAU RIDE & PARTY: Mt. Vernon Square bicycle shop BicycleSPACE is hosting another full moon outing, and this one will take riders from the shop (1019 7th Street NW) to Kingman Island, where they will enjoy a luau party. Starts at 8 p.m. and wraps up at midnight. Details and RSVP are here. Free.

GIRLS ROCKIN’ OUT: For five years, Girls Rock! D.C. has been working with music education to create a supportive, inclusive and creative space for girls aged 8-18 to develop their self-confidence and build community. Today is the end-of-the-summer D.C. Camper Showcase at the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW), where girls perform in a band or DJ crew assembled in just one week. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., show starts at 11. Tickets are $10 at the door, and all proceeds go to Girls Rock! D.C.

STUDIO THEATRE GARAGE SALE: If you’re looking to start up your own thetre troupe or just like shopping for the odd props and costumes, Studio Theatre (1501 14th Street NW) is hosting its annual Garage Sale, where props, costumes and set pieces from the 2011/12 season will be up for grabs. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free.

MID-CITY SIDEWALK SALES: Starting today and running through Sunday, head down to 14th Street NW for the 13th Annual Mid-City Dog Days Sidewalk Sales. Over 70 businesses in Mid-City—14th Street from Massachusetts Avenue up to Florida Avenue—are participating this year.

CELEBRATE THE POWER OF THE SCHWARTZ: It’s been 25 years since Spaceballs was first released, so head to the AFI in Silver Spring (8633 Colesville Road) for a 5:45 p.m. showing of the comedy classic. Tickets are $11.50.

THE AGONY & ECSTASY OF STEVE WOZNIAK: Tonight performance of Mike Daisey’s The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs (our review is here) at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company (641 D Street NW) features a special post-performance conversation with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. 8 p.m. Tickets are $100, buy them here.

CELEBRATE THE LION OF ANACOSTIA: The Frederick Douglass Family Festival takes places today, celebrating the history and heritage of the Lion of Anacostia with live music, crafts, historic house tours, free ice cream and popcorn, and more. The festival runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site (1411 W St. SE). As part of the festivities, the Washington Area Bicyclist Association is organizing a leisurely ride along the Anacostia River starting at 3 p.m.

RICKEY: July was Rickey Month, when bartenders and booze hounds across the city celebrated D.C.’s official cocktail. Today the D.C. Craft Bartenders Guild is throwing a Rickey Party at Jack Rose Saloon (2007 18th Street NW), where one bartender will be crowned the winner of the month-long contest to determine who makes the best Rickey. 4 to 8 p.m. $10 gets you in and gets to a free Rickey.
